Fortis Hospital Kangra gave breath to a pre mature infant of seven month. The biggest challenge in this was to save newborn’s life. The newborn was around one kg in weight and small for date. But Dr. Nidhi Raina and Dr. Himadri Roy not only accepted the challenge but also put all their efforts to save the little angle.
Prachi Sharma, from Baijnath came to Fortis Kangra for regular check up. She was a booked case. She was case of severe Pregnancy Induced Hypertension on two antihypertensive indications. But due to some complications, as her BP was not controlled on medicines and baby started showing features of Hypoxia in utero. So it was decided to terminate pregnancy at 32 weeks after consulting pediatrician Dr Himadri Roy, they took her for pre mature delivery. Baby was delivered by caesarean section at 32 weeks gestation. Dr. Nidhi Raina said that it was a preterm – birth and delivery was successful, but the infant’s life was still in danger.
At birth, the weight of the infant was nearly one kg. Due to this, the infant was kept in NICU under Dr. Himadri Roy, and other nursing staff’s supervision. With efforts of Doctors and nursing staff, there was a positive recovery in infant. The challenge of saving infant’s life came out positively with the continuous efforts of doctors and nursing staff. Dr Himadri Roy said that the pre mature infants have many problems. Infant is not completely mature and are low weight, and they need proper care and special supervision and it’s really difficult and challenging to save their life. But with proper supervision and equipments, we can give life to little angles.
